What's New at Butler Catholic School since you Left?

For the Sports Fans, did you know that Butler Catholic has participated in 2 Catholic Youth Organization State Basketball Tournaments.  The first year was in Philadelphia and we were the 4th runner up and in 2007 we were the third runner up held in Erie, PA.   In the 2006-2007 School year, varsity soccer was the Diocesan "World Cup" Champions.  This past year we were the 1st Runner-Up.  We also now have Girls Volleyball.  We have made it to the play-offs and the interest is continuing to grow.

Did you know Harry Leland recently retired after almost 40 years of coaching here at Butler Catholic?

We are still very active in the PJAS Competitions.  Our students continue to take first and second places.  A new program introduced has been Robotics.  This is still a new program but each competition we participate in, our scores are getting better.  We were one-point away from the team award this past year.

Did you also know that we now offer 3 language class opportunities.  Kindergarten thru 5th grade participates actively in Spanish lessons.  6th grade has a semester of Spanish and a semester of French.  In 7th grade, the students can choose a language (Spanish, French or Latin) so that over a 2 year period they can earn high school credit.

We've added a preschool program for both 3 year and 4 year olds.

The Forensics (Public Speaking) Program is open to students 5th thru 8th.  Students prepare readings in six different areas and present in 3 different tournaments per year.  We are members of the South Western Pennsylvania Forensics League.

Although we have participated in the Challenge of Champions for many years, We have also hosted this event sponsored by Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 on site on several occasions.
